With both a BD player and an upgrading DVD going through the receiver via HDMI cables, and a powered sub woofer that would be otherwise constantly on, this is an ideal solution to not wasting energy. The constantly powered plugs allow for the TV, TiVo, and clock to receive energy without interruption when the receiver is off, which also gives the additional bonus of not needing the home theater on to have the TV on.
Keep in mind you only have three plugs in this one that will shut down. It does work, when the computer goes into stanby or sleep mode, the outlets that are plug into to it the power is killed. They have a video presentation and they mention hibernation, but works in stanby. Which they of course mentioned, but it still didn't register with me. I have my desk top lamp on one of the green switches, lazy but fun.
